FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PALO ALTO COMMUNITY CHILD CARE FILLS THE GAP FOR CHILDREN IN NEED DURING SNAP BENEFITS LAPSE.
Palo Alto, CA – October 31, 2025
As the SNAP Food Program is set to lapse on Saturday, November 1, 2025, over 100 children served by Palo Alto Community Child Care (PACCC) will be without food benefits. Children in PACCC’s programs will have access to breakfast and lunch; PACCC is seeking immediate financial assistance to cover dinner and weekend meals.
Initially, PACCC would like to provide 100 - $50 grocery gift cards to families in need, while promoting other resources such as food closets and food banks to Palo Alto families receiving subsidized early education and care. This emergency action will help families for approximately one week and will be an ongoing effort during the lapse of funding. Grocery Outlet in Palo Alto has offered to serve as the main gift card resource for this fundraising effort.
Currently, PACCC serves more than 800 Palo Alto children per day from infant-toddler through 5th grade, 52 weeks per year, across 18 centers. 40% of PACCC’s infant-toddler and preschool children are subsidized and 15% of the PACCC Kids’ Club children are subsidized.
“It was my sincere hope that our government officials would have a resolution to ensure our children have access to a primary need for food by now. As this lapse in funding deadline looms, I’m reaching out to request immediate support for Palo Alto’s children in need,” says PACCC CEO, Lee Pfab. “Let’s ensure children have the food necessary to be healthy and prepared for learning. Thank you in advance for your support.”
Donations can be made here. Please put “FOOD” in the notes to ensure the funds are directed at this immediate need.
