At Sojourner Truth Child Development Center, we believe in providing children and teachers with aesthetically pleasing naturalistic environments and meaningful learning experiences. Our center philosophy aligns with Magda Gerber's RIE (Resource for Infant Educarers) Principles, which is passionately dedicated to empowering parents and caregiving professionals. RIE Principles are the starting point for establishing a healthy and supportive relationship with your child from the beginning. RIE empowers parents and caregivers with the tools and perspective from understanding each baby and the unique relationship, and find balance in the individual situation or setting.
Here at Sojourner Infant-Toddler, we don't just respect infants and toddlers, we demonstrate and model respectful caregiving when interacting with them, treating them like whole individuals while fostering a sense of authentic children, who feel secure, autonomous, competent, and connected. Children learn best through child-directed play, which fosters imagination & independence.
